Shamita Shetty Biography

Miss sexy figure Shamita Shetty was born on 2nd February, 1979 to father Surendra and mother Sunanda Shetty. She is the sister of the famous Bollywood celebrity Shilpa Shetty. Shamita attended St Anthony's Girls High School in Chembur, Mumbai. She dropped out from Sydenham College in Mumbai in the 11th standard to pursue a diploma course in Fashion designing.

She is one of the lucky few actresses to have made her debut under the banner of� Yash Raj productions with the multi-starred big budget film Mohabattein, where she played the role of Ishiqa opposite co-star Uday Chopra. The movie did well at the box office and Shamita was instantly noticed by the audience. Along with her stardom the movie also helped her find a boyfriend in Uday Chopra whom she dated for quite some time.

She did not appear in any other films for quite some time. Then she started making cameo appearances in item numbers in films like Saathiya and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. She sizzled the screens with her hot item numbers and the nickname ‘Sharara Girl’ after her famous item number Sharara Sharara. She was branded as hot and bold Bollywood actresses.

Soon after her popularity rose following the super success of her item songs and soon she began to get roles which would showcase her acting ability, such as Wajahh and Bewafaa in which she played negative roles. Her best performance till date has been in the 2005 hit Zeher, further enhancing her career in Bollywood. She also went on to star in the film Fareb with her sister, which was an average grosser at the box-office.

Shamita also had a fair share of controversies. Most recently she was the centre of discussions and gossips after she was seen trying to imitate the famous pop star Britney Spears by appearing at a huge Bollywood event without undergarments.
