Isha Koppikar Biography

The “Khallas Girl” is one title that will never leave the audiences’ memories when they hear the name “Isha Koppikar”. But several years after that film “Company”, Isha has today become a household name. She has done some quality films and has completely pulled off her image as just an item girl.
Born in 1976, to a family of academicians, Isha shot to fame with her photo shoot with Gautam Rajyadhaksha, while she was still in junior college. She participated in the Miss India contest in 1995 and won the Miss Talented crown too. She then went on to lend her face to brands like Tips and Toes, Camay, L’oreal, Rexona, Coca Cola and Ponds.
Her stunning looks, 5’7” tall persona and her talent got her immediate attention in the film industry. She debuted her acting career with a south Indian film, “En Swasa Katre”. Her Hindi film career has been moving upwards with films like “Pinjar”, “Darna Manaa Hai”, “Krishna Cottage”, “36 China Town” and “Don”.
Isha did a film on lesbianism named “Girlfriend” which trigged controversy amongst the audiences due to its unconventional subject which is considered a taboo in India and in many other countries.
Isha has already done a variety of roles. From a lesbian in “Girlfriend” to a ghost in “Krishna Cottage”, to a villain in “Qayamat”, her versatility has been vividly explored. She was nominated for her laudable performance in a negative role for “Qayamat” and won rave reviews for her performance in “Pinjar”.
In her latest flick “Don”, Isha is paired opposite the don himself Shah Rukh Khan. She is now looking forward to the multi starrer film “Hello”, in which Salman Khan is doing a cameo. This film is about a night at a call centre.
A lover of biryani and pastries, Isha believes that her family is her biggest asset and her sensitivity, her strength. She doesn’t find it wrong to portray intimate scenes if the script so demands. She is smart and straightforward and that’s how she wants to be even in the times to come.
