Amrita Arora biography

From a video jockey, to a model and an actress, Amrita Arora has been in the glam and glitz since more than a decade now. Initially she was known as Malaika Arora’s lil sister, but gradually she was able to stand by her name and give herself a separate identity.

Born on 31st January, 1978 to a Malayali mother and a Punjabi father, Amrita was brought up in Mumbai. She began her journey as a model to many designers and eventually started getting film offers.

Her first film was with Fardeen Khan called “Kitne Door Kitne Pass” in 2002. The film flopped miserably and Amrita wasn’t noticed much. A no. of films followed in the next few years such as Zameen, Awara Paagal Deewana, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah and Rakht. Some of them faired well at the box office but none of them really swept the audience of their feet.

Amrita believes in doing different kinds of role. So she chose to do the role of a womanizer in the film Girlfriend, opposite Isha Koppikar. This time she was noticed both by the critics and the audience. Amrita was steadily emerging as an actress with a lot of potential.

This 5’5” Aquarian is a big fan of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. She loves her sister and actress, Malaika and dotes on her nephew too. Her brother in law is actor Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan.

Amrita’s latest flick was Fight club which released in 2006, produced by Sohail Khan. In this film she acted along with many other co actors like Riteish Deshmukh, Ashmit Patel, Dia Mirza and Neha Dhupia. But the critics called it “A stylishly shot movie without any substancial content”.

It’s been a matter of only 5 years and Amrita has done quite a few films already. But it will be a long time and a lot of hard work, before she can count herself among the top actresses of bollywood.
