Ameesha Patel biography

Right from her school days, Ameesha Patel emerged as a true winner in whatever she did. The school Head Girl, a brilliant academician and a gold medalist in Economics from the Tufts’ University, Boston, Ameesha began her career with the finance department of Bombay Stock Exchange. But her interest soon deviated to theatre. A strong believer in her dreams, Ameesha finally landed in the film industry with the release of her debut film “Kaho Naa Pyar Hai” in 2000.

This grand daughter of the noted lawyer Rajni Patel was born on 9th June 1976. Her mother is a Gujrati Maharashtrian, while her father is a Sindhi. In her childhood days, Ameesha purely concentrated on studies and sports.

An ardent fan of Madhuri Dixit and Julia Roberts, she was convinced to join theatre after a brief experience in the corporate world. She joined Satyadev Dubey’s theatre group. Around this time Rakesh Roshan was making Kaho Na Pyar Hai to launch his son Hrithik. Ameesha debuted in this film as the lead heroine. The film instantly became a superhit, and Ameesha got recognition overnight, something not many actresses get from their very 1st film!

Then came a series of films like Gadar, Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage, Humraaz, Yeh Hai Jalwa and Teesri Aankh. None of these films could repeat the magic of her 1st film and many of the films crashed at the box office. Though Ameesha tried doing a variety of roles, the audience did not accept her in every character.

In a short span of 7 years in the film industry, Ameesha has already acted with stars like Govinda, Sunny Deol, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. Her latest flick, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., saw an insignificant role of Ameesha due to her unimportant role and the multi starrer cast like Shabana Azmi, Boman Irani and Dia Mirza.

Ameesha believes in simplicity and honesty in whatever she does. She loves reading books and keeping her privacy. Sources say that she has been dating director Vikram Bhatt these days. With the Achieve-your-dream attitude, this girl is sure to go much higher in life.
