rahul bose Biography

A true leo at heart, Rahul Bose is simple yet smart, cool yet casual. With an accented hindi and great looks, he has been associated with films that belong to a different genre from that of a conventional masala movie. Surprisingly enough, most of his film have had English titles.

Rahul was born on July 27th, 1967, to Rupen and Kumud Bose. He has an elder sister named Anuradha, who is married to Tarique Ansari, the owner and director of “Mid Day Multimedia”.

Most of his childhood was spent in Kolkata. From his teen age, Bose had an inclination towards watching and playing sports. After he moved to Mumbai with his family, he completed his schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School and his graduation from Sydneham College. Apart from studying he spent quality time doing theatre, boxing and playing his favourite sport Rugby.

It was only in1994 that Rahul finally stepped into Bollywood with the film “English August”. But real stardom came in 1999 when “Split wide open” released. From 2000 onwards, Rahul has had at least one release and that too a hit. From “Mr. And Mrs. Aiyer” in 2002 and “Jhankaar Beats” in 2003 to “Chameli” in 2004 and “15 Park Avenue” in 2005, all the films have been different and refreshing for the audiences.

Apart from films, Rahul plays international rugby in the National "Orange Indian Rugby Team”. He has also extended his support to those affected by the Tsunami in the Nicobar Islands. Akshara Centre, Breakthrough, Spastics Society of India, World Youth Peace Summit are other organizations Rahul has associated himself with.

Recently two of Rahul’s films that have hit the theatres are “Pyar Ke Side Effects” opposite Mallika Sherawat and “Chain Kuli Ki Main Kuli”. He is also working in “Japanese Wife” which is due to release by the end of this year.
Bose is definitely more than just an actor, theatre personality and social activist. He often conducts seminars with students of film making and encourages them to explore newer horizons.
