The “Chaiya Chaiya” girl of tinsel town, once a super model, VJ and now a successful actress, Malaika is often called the “ramp queen”. She has been a true style diva for all the youngsters who ever wanted to enter the modeling profession. The face launching varied products loves professionalism and punctuality.
Born on 23rd August 1973, Malaika has a younger sister, actress Amrita Arora. She was born to a Malayali mother and a Punjabi father, and was brought up in Mumbai. After finishing her studies, she decided to enter the showbiz.
Initially, she began with modeling and doing ads like Pearl Pet, Benzer, Tanishq , Bare Necessities, Mafatlal, De Beers and Tribhovandas Bhimji. She also danced in a number of music vodeos like opposite Jas Arora in “Gori Nal Ishq Mitha”. Her career in Bollywood began in 1993 from the film, Aaja Meri Jaan.
Real recognition hit Mallika with the song Chaiya Chaiya in the film Dil Se in 1998. In this she danced with Shahrukh Khan on a train top. Then came other hits like Bichhoo, Indian and Kaante. Most of the films have Mallika in a very small role but the audiences have always loved her presence.
In December, 1998, Mallika married actor Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan and in 2003 they were blessed with a son Arhaan. She is one woman who has enjoyed everything God has given her. Right now she keeps a perfect balance between work and home.
Mallika’s latest film has been Kaal in which she has a special appearance in the title song. She is working for “Om Shanti Om” which will release soon. In this film she is reprtedly acting as a superwoman and will be seen jumping from rooftops to rooftops!
A camera loving Malaika has never been Media shy. She enjoys talk shows and interview. Last year she also judged a dance competition “Nach Baliye”. She even appeared in KBC along with her husband, Arbaaz, when Shahrukh hosted it. A fun loving and jovial Malaika has other plans for her future. She wants to open a restaurant in Mumbai. Whatever this damsel does, she is sure to rule the hearts of every Indian.
