An amazing height of 5 feet 8 inches and a figure that suits every type of clothes either Indian or Western, she is the dusky damsel of Bollywood and former Miss Universe, Lara Dutta.
Lara was born on 16 April 1978. Her mother is Jennifer Dutta and her father is retired wing commander, L.K. Dutta. She was born in Ghaziabad but soon shifted to Bangalore, where she was actually brought up. She graduated in economic from the Mumbai university and soon joined the modeling profession.
Winning the annual Gladsrags modelling competition in India, she was entitled to represent India at the 1997 Miss Intercontinental Pageant, in which she took first place. Lara has not looked back since then. She won the miss India crown as well as the Miss Universe title in 2000. All this gave a head start to her career in the world of glamour.
She went on to do modelling for many prestigious brands and soon made her debut in Bollywood in 2003 opposite the dashing Akshay kumar and the sexy Priyanka Chopra in the film Andaaz. She won the best debutant award for this film.
Lara went onto do many films in the following years. Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Khakee, Masti, Elaan, Kaal, No Entry and dosti were some of them. While some did well at the box office, the others, like Elaan and Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, flopped at the box office.
A sports enthusiast, Lara loves reading autobiographies and traveling and boasts that she is a self made person. Some of the prestigious awards have fallen into Lara’s lap like the best debutant and the award for “A promising new comer”. Not many know that the intelligent Lara has a flair for writing. She is presently writing two individual scripts which can be made into films one day.
Her latest flicks Jhoom Barabar Jhoom opposite Abhishek Bachchan and Partner has instilled a lot of hopes in Lara. She believes that the film will do good not only to the producers but also to her own career. We are sure that this actress is a star that will shine in the film industry for many more years to come.
