Call him Milind Soman, the hunk, the supermodel or the producer turned actor, this sexy Indian model was the talk of the town in the 1990s. He created a rage with his debut music video “Made in India” sung by Alisha Chinai.
Milind was born in Scotland to a Maharashtrian Brahmin family. He also lived in London for about 7 years before he shifted base to India.
Not many know that Milind always aspired to become a swimmer. He was an electric engineer before he set his foot in the glam world. Milind began his career with the Thakersey fabrics ad. He was even rejected for the Gravier Suiting coz he looked too young to wear a suit!
Briefly engaged to model Madhu Sapre, Milind was surrounded with neck deep controversy when he and her beau bared it all for a print ad of “Tuff” shoes where they were wearing nothing but the shoes and a huge python! They split soon after.
Milind failed to get appreciation or even attention with his offbeat films like “Agni Varsha”, “Roshni” and “Jurm”. Though he has worked with veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Dangzongpa and Naseerudin Shah, he could not create a spark with his acting abilities.
In 2006, Milind married his French co-star, Mylene Jampanoi. They have worked in the Indo-German-French film “Valley Of Flowers”, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah and is made by Paris-based Indian filmmaker Pan Nalin. His recent release “Bheja Fry” saw a long haired and bearded Milind who has definitely matured as an actor too.
After a few unsuccessful attempts in acting, Milind ventures into film production and released “ Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula”. Even this film did not work at the box office. He has also produced a tele serial named “Ghost Banaa Dost”.
“Bhram” and “Say Salaam India” are two films this actor is looking forward to. Though he loves sports, Milind is not too keen about hitting the gym. He loves to live a smooth and easy life.
